# West Ham making one last move for William Carvalho

William Carvalho has been the man West Ham have been trying to sign over the last few weeks but to no avail thus far.

After seeing a third bid worth in the region of £35m rejected for the Portugal international, the Hammers threatened to pull out of a move but their disastrous start to the Premier League season has only highlighted the need for a quality defensive midfielder.

West Ham are ready to make one last move for Carvalho who has already agreed personal terms and wants to move to the Premier League this summer, but the [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4838512/Transfer-deadline-day-LIVE-Liverpool-Manchester-City.html) claim Sporting will stand firm on their £40m asking price.

Sporting are said to be looking to offload a number of players before tonight’s transfer deadline and Carvalho is the most obvious candidate to leave given the drawn out saga revolving around a move to West Ham.

Barcelona’s Andre Gomes has been touted as an alternative to Carvalho on a season-long loan, while reported West Ham target Jota is poised to complete a £6m move from Brentford to Birmingham.
