# West Ham in talks to sign Abdul Majeed Waris

With Diafra Sakho set to return to France and sign for Ligue 1 side Rennes in a £9m deal, West Ham are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements and they could be on the way.

Sky Sports understand that the Hammers are interested in signing Lorient striker Abdul Majeed Waris before tomorrow’s transfer deadline.

The striker, along with his representatives, are currently in London discussing a potential move to West Ham.

Waris is one of several potential replacements for Sakho who passed a medical with Rennes earlier today.

The 25-year-old striker joined Lorient in a £4m deal from Trabzonspor two years ago and scored 11 goals in 40 appearances last season.

West Ham are left with just two senior strikers if Sakho does in fact leave and bringing in at least one more if paramount given Andy Carroll’s injury history.

A move for Brentford attacker Jota has been put on the shelf for the time being. West Ham haven’t discussed a deal with Brentford for 4-5 days and the player has interest from Fulham and Middlesbrough. Though, the £8m-rated winger’s preference is to join West Ham.
