# West Ham looking at late move for Aymen Abdennour

West Ham desperately need defensive additions before the transfer window shuts on Thursday and are lining up some late swoops.

Despite a move to Zenit being all but confirmed, Valencia defender Aymen Abdennour has emerged as a shock target for West Ham, French news outlet [RMC Sport](https://rmcsport.bfmtv.com/football/om-abdennour-piste-abandonnee-mais-bientot-reactivee-1244313.html) claim.

The Hammers tried hard to sign the Tunisia international two years ago during his time with AS Monaco but the centre-back opted for a move to La Liga with Valencia where he has had an up and down spell.

Everton are also looking to hijack a deal for Abdennour and have made contact with Valencia, along with West Ham, regarding his situation while Lille and Marseille are also interested in bringing him back to Ligue 1 before the deadline.

Abdennour has had a medical with Zenit, but is open to the idea of turning his back on a move to Russia. However, despite West Ham’s and Everton’s interest, Marseille remains his ideal destination.
