# Ljubomir Fejsa emerging as a top West Ham target

Right now, it’s anyone’s guess whether or not the Hammers will secure a deal with Sporting for William Carvalho, but they can’t sit around waiting for the Portuguese club to lower their demands.

Slaven Bilic is keen to add a top class holding midfielder to his squad before next week’s transfer deadline and is preparing to make a move for Benfica star Ljubomir Fejsa.

Having been listed as an alternative to Carvalho earlier this month, Fejsa is now emerging as a realistic candidate for the Hammers.

West Ham [have been tracking the Serbian](https://sportwitness.co.uk/west-ham-keen-one-planets-successful-footballers-medals-galore/) for some time and are ready to make a move for the 29-year-old, but his injury history is an issue.

Benfica are said to be discussing a new contract for the midfielder amid interest from both West Ham and Tottenham this summer.

With a release clause of €35m written into his current deal, West Ham would likely need to match this figure if they’re to sign him.

Sporting are demanding €38m plus bonuses for Carvalho, making Fejsa a potentially cheaper purchase, and arguably just as good.
