# Hull and Middlesbrough see bids rejected for Jota

After [rejecting a £3m bid from West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2017/08/09/exclusive-west-ham-opening-bid-turned-jota/), Brentford have now rejected bids from Championship rivals Middlesbrough and Hull for their star attacker, Jota, claims the [Gazette](https://www.gazettelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/jota-brentford-receive-second-bid-13524652).

Middlesbrough’s opening bid was around the £4.5m mark, with Hull’s expected to be in a similar ballpark, but all three offers fall well short of Brentford’s valuation, which we understand sits at £8m.

Jota’s contract expires next summer and is keen to complete a Premier League move this summer after scoring 12 goals in 21 games for Brentford in the second half of last season, and has already agreed terms with the Hammers.

After their offer was turned down, Middlesbrough have stepped away from the bidding process but will continue to monitor the 26-year-old’s situation ahead of a fresh move nearer the end of the transfer window. Jota is snubbing interest from Championship clubs as he holds out for a Premier League move.

With the exception of a move for William Carvalho, West Ham are working to a one in, one out transfer policy and any follow-up bid for Jota is dependent on Robert Snodgrass leaving the club as a loan move to Aston Villa edges closer.

Jota has missed Brentford’s last two games with a back injury but is set to return to action this weekend with no move imminent.

News of interest from other clubs will surely drive up the price for Jota, but with the player keen on joining West Ham and moving to the Premier League, the Hammers remain in the box seat but will need to free up space in the squad before submitting a new bid.
