# West Ham rule out Andy Carroll loan exit

For the first time in a good five years or so, Andy Carroll isn’t the club’s top dog in the attacking ranks.

The target man has been usurped by Javier Hernandez following his £16m move from Bayer Leverkusen earlier this summer and Chicharito is off to a hot start for the club, bagging a brace last time out against Southampton.

Not to the surprise of many, Carroll has been linked with a summer move away from West Ham, none other than to former club Newcastle who are desperate for a striker themselves.

Newcastle aren’t exactly flush themselves with funds this summer and were hoping to take Carroll back to St James’ Park on a season-long loan deal, but it’s believed that there’s no chance the Hammers will allow that, and any move for Carroll would have to be a permanent one.

Having missed the last few months through injury, Carroll is back in full training and could be involved this weekend when West Ham travel to Newcastle away as they search for their first points of the season.
