# West Ham want Silva and Palhinha from Sporting

West Ham’s deal to sign Arsenal and Manchester City target William Carvalho from Sporting Lisbon is moving at a slower pace than anticipated.

With the Liga NOS side refusing to budge on their £36m asking price for the 25-year-old, the Hammers are being [linked with a €30m double swoop](https://sportwitness.co.uk/west-ham-give-expensive-midfielder-offer-e30m-two-players-instead/) for two of his teammates.

Jornal de Noticias in Portugal claim that West Ham have offered €30m to sign midfield pair Adrian Silva and Joao Palhinha this summer as an alternative deal to the one which would see Carvalho join the club.

Silva was born in France but has been capped 20 times by Portugal having come through the Sporting academy. The 28-year-old has been linked with the likes of Tottenham and WestBrom this summer.

Palhinha is a highly-rated 22-year-old who impressed during a loan spell with Belenenses in the first half of the last campaign before returning to Sporting and making 11 Liga NOS appearances. He’s been capped at Portugal U20 level.

The report even claims that the Hammers are willing to include a clause that would see Sporting entitled to 25% of any future sell-on fee for Palhinha, but the Portuguese club are seeking an additional €5m before agreeing to sanction the sales.

West Ham’s top priority remains signing William Carvalho, but a deal is proving to be harder to negotiate than anticipated.
