# West Ham turn to Danilo Pereira as Carvalho deal stalls

While West Ham’s sole intention is to secure a deal for Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho, contingency plans are being drawn up in the process.

The [Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/west-ham-turn-porto-midfielder-10991667) report that the Hammers will turn their attentions to Porto star Danilo Pereira if their pursuit of Carvalho proves fruitless.

Pereira, 25, has impressed for Porto over the last few seasons and has been linked with a move to Arsenal in recent times.

Also part of Portugal’s Euro 2016 winning squad, Pereira would cost a similar fee to that of Carvalho.

West Ham are prepared to offer £31m for Carvalho, who is eager to make the move, but Sporting are still holding out for a fee closer to £36m which is proving to be a stumbling block.

A Bola in Portugal claim that the Hammers want to pay any fee for Carvalho over two years, while the Liga NOS side are seeking an upfront payment.

Slaven Bilic will press ahead with a deal for Carvalho for the time being, but should no agreement be reached, the club will then focus on a deal for Pereira instead.
