# West Ham Player Ratings: Manchester United (A)

West Ham got their 2017/18 Premier League campaign off to the worst possible start this afternoon, slumping to a 4-0 defeat away at Manchester United.

The Hammers headed up to Manchester full of optimism, with a successful summer transfer window so far under their belt and a new lease of life after what could be considered a beneficial pre-season.

However, it was Romelu Lukaku who, once again, inflicted the misery on Slaven Bilic’s side with a dominant display.

The powerful Belgian striker put United ahead on his Premier League debut for his new side, powerfully converting in off the post. He then doubled United’s advantage in the second half with a delicate, glancing header beyond Joe Hart’s reach.

West Ham had their backs against the wall for the majority of the match and went three down late on, with substitute Anthony Martial coolly converting. Paul Pogba then made it four shortly after with a low, curling effort.

On a miserable day for the Hammers, we’ve given our match ratings.
