Javier Hernandez has become the fourth player to join the Hammers this summer after the club agreed a £16m fee with Bayer Leverkusen for his transfer.

The Hammers were eager to sign Hernandez two years ago from Manchester United but the striker decided to move to the Bundesliga side, however, he has now singed a three-year deal with West Ham.

Mexico’s all-time leading goalscorer with 48 goals, Hernandez spent four seasons at Old Trafford between 2010 and 2014, mainly as a reserve striker, but still scored 59 goals in 159 appearances, while also laying on a further 20 assists.

In a two-year spell with Leverkusen, Hernandez found the net frequently, with 39 goals and nine assists in 79 games for the German outfit.

The 29-year-old has become the club’s top earner, reportedly on a contract worth £140,000-a-week but finally, the club have a proven goalscorer in their ranks.
