# West Ham to compete with Southampton for Muller

West Ham are set to compete with Southampton for the signing of Hamburg winger Nicolai Muller.

According to [Sport Bild](https://sportbild.bild.de/bundesliga/vereine/hsv/hsv-nicolai-mueller-interesse-wolfsburg-schalke-england-klubs-52434046.sport.html), West Ham and Southampton are the only [Premier League](https://readpl.com/)clubs interested, with a host of [Bundesliga](https://readbundesliga.com/) sides also in the race.

[Wolfsburg](https://readbundesliga.com/) and [Schalke](https://readbundesliga.com/) are both said to hold strong interest, as they also look to bolster their squads ahead of next season.

[Hamburg](https://readbundesliga.com/) want to keep Muller but could be pressured into selling if West Ham were to come in with a reasonable offer and the player makes them aware he wants the move.

Muller has one year left on his current contract at [Hamburg](https://readbundesliga.com/), which could prompt the club to sell.

Bild claims that [Hamburg](https://readbundesliga.com/) would be willing to do business for a fee in the region of €8-10m.

Muller scored five goals and registered six assists in the [Bundesliga](https://readbundesliga.com/) last season for [Hamburg](https://readbundesliga.com/).

The winger has been at the club for three years, since signing from fellow [Bundesliga](https://readbundesliga.com/) side Mainz.
