# West Ham join the race for Ranocchia

West Ham have reportedly joined the race to sign Inter Milan defender Andrea Ranocchia this summer.

According to a report from Italian news outlet Corriere dello Sport, as per [talkSPORT](https://talksport.com/football/west-ham-united-transfer-news-hammers-enter-race-sign-huddersfield-newcastle-and-west-brom), the Hammers are the latest top flight club to express an interest in landing the experienced central defender.

West Ham aren’t blessed with the greatest defensive options and this is likely to be an area that Slaven Bilic aims to bolster in the ongoing window.

Ranocchia spent the second half of last season on loan at Hull and despite impressing on occasions, failed to keep them afloat in the Premier League.

It’s looking as though Inter are poised to offload the 29-year-old this summer, and are reportedly only looking to receive a £5m fee for him.

However, if West Ham are to land Ranocchia this summer, they will need to fend off a host of clubs.

All of West Brom, Huddersfield and Newcastle have been previously linked.
