# West Ham confident of landing Olivier Giroud

West Ham have taken a scatter-gun approach to their pursuit of a new striker this summer but it’s believed that the club are confident they will bring in at least one big name this summer.

[Goal](https://beta.goal.com/en/news/lacazettes-arsenal-transfer-paves-way-for-giroud-to-west-ham/19qym0a0yd2fz1bj85ctvo3lkr) understand that West am are confident that they will secure a deal to sign Olivier Giroud from Arsenal this summer, once Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette completes his big-money move to the Emirates.

Lacazette is expected in London early this week to have a medical with the Gunners ahead of finalising a £46m move, which will pave the way for Giroud to make his move across London to West Ham.

While Everton are also keen on signing the France international, West Ham believe that Giroud is interested in staying in London and would prefer that over a move to Merseyside, putting them in the driving seat.

With an offer of £20m on the table and a four-year contract worth £100,000-a-week put forward to Giroud, West Ham believe they will do enough to get the deal done, but Giroud’s agent Michael Manuello tells Goal that nothing is decided yet:

> It is a private decision. We never say anything until we decide.

The Hammers are waiting for the dominoes to fall before going ahead with a move for Giroud which will see him become the club’s highest-paid player.

Slaven Bilic is also keen on a move for Kelechi Iheanacho from Manchester City in addition to signing Giroud, while Javier Hernandez is also a target.
