# West Ham again linked with Raul Jimenez

West Ham are desperate to sign a striker or two this summer and are being linked with moves for targets from recent years.

According to Portuguese source Record, as cited by [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/e45m-offer-arrives-england-west-ham-liverpool-named-suspects/), both West Ham and fellow Premier League side Liverpool are interested in signing Jimenez and a bid of €45m (£39.5m) has been submitted from an unnamed Premier League club for him.

The Hammers tried to sign the striker on loan from Atletico Madrid two years ago but Jimenez failed to show up for a medical and later completed a permanent transfer to Liga NOS giants Benfica for a reported £18.7m.

Jimenez, 26,  has scored 23 goals and laid on eight assists in 77 appearances for Benfica over the last two seasons, including 11 goals in 32 games during the last campaign.

David Gold has spoken out recently that the Hammers want to sign proven Premier League strikers this summer, but domestic players do tend to be pricey, making another risk-reward move for a striker from overseas likely this summer.

Jimenez isn’t of the quality that the Hammers would be hoping for, and his goal return isn’t stunning, but he’d be a welcome addition to the squad at this point.
