# West Ham and Saints target hands in transfer request

West Ham and Southampton transfer target Kwadwo Asamoah has handed in a transfer request at Italian champions Juventus.

Reports in Italy, cited on [Calcio Mercato](https://www.calciomercato.com/en/news/west-ham-target-hands-in-transfer-request-at-juventus-25849) claim the player has told of the club of his intention to leave the Old Lady this summer.

The Hammers have already contacted the player’s agent over a possible summer move to the London Stadium, but face competition from Southampton and Turkish side Galatasaray.

The Turin side are thought to be open to the idea of selling Asamoah, who has played a bit-part role for them over the years.

The Ghanian would be a versatile addition for the West Ham, having featured at left-back, central midfield and in a wider midfield role.

Asamoah made just two 18 appearances in the league this season and will be hoping to nail down more regular first-team football with his next move.
