# Swansea rival West Ham for PSV defender Santiago Arias

Swansea are looking to make a move for PSV defender Santiago Arias after West Ham declared their interest in the player, according to a report from [TMW](https://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/europa/esclusiva-tmw-swansea-offerta-al-psv-per-santiago-arias-979265).

The Colombian has been linked with a move to the Premier League for some time and it seemed that West Ham would be his likely destination, but Swansea have now emerged as favourites to secure his signature.

Arias, 25, scored once for PSV in the Dutch league this season and provided two assists.

Swansea are reported to be readying a bid of €8m for the defender as Paul Clement looks to strengthen his side before the start of the new Premier League season.

West Ham’s interest in Arias first arose in April where they were keeping tabs on the player with a view to make an offer in the summer. However, with the arrival of Pablo Zabaleta at the London club, it seems that a move for Arias may not be on the cards.

The player himself is keen on a move to the Premier League but reports are suggesting that Swansea may have to increase their offer if they are to secure the player.

Slaven Bilic is set for a busy transfer window and will be looking to add further options defensively at the club.
