# West Ham target Jordi Mboula set for Monaco move

As they search for a few new strikers, [West Ham were in talks](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/613036/West-Ham-Chelsea-Michy-Batshuayi-Barcelona-Jordi-Mboula-Slaven-Bilic) with Barcelona to sign highly-rated forward Jordi Mboula.

The Spain U19 international impressed in the UEFA Youth League for [Barcelona](https://readlaliga.com/) this season, netting eight goals in nine appearances and is pushing for a chance in the first-team.

With his release clause standing at just €3m, it wouldn’t take much to sign the talented young forward but the Hammers appear to have lost out in the race to secure his signature.

According to Spanish source [Sport](https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/barca/alarma-cantera-mboula-paso-del-monaco-6067125), Mboula is set to complete a transfer to Monaco this summer after they agreed to meet his release clause.

The Ligue 1 champions are willing to give the 18-year-old a chance in their first team after they sold Bernardo Silva to Manchester City earlier this month for £43m.

Mboula is expected to arrive in Monaco to complete a medical in the next few days and is excited at the prospect of playing some first-team football in one of Europe’s top leagues after being stifled of an opportunity at Barcelona.
