# West Ham want to make Yaya Toure a statement signing

West Ham have no plans to sack Slaven Bilic in the summer and will back him significantly in the transfer window.

The Hammers, who were already planning to spend big in the summer, have an extra £25m in their back pockets from the sale of Dimitri Payet while his £125,000-a-week wages are also off the books.

Intending to make two or three statement signings in the summer to see them push back towards a top six place next season, West Ham are lining up a move for Manchester City star Yaya Toure, say the Telegraph.

Toure will be leaving the Etihad in the summer when his contract expires and the Hammers will be one of many clubs around the world looking to sign the Ivory Coast star.

It remains to be seen if West Ham can meet the 33-year-old’s sizeable wage demands but they’re willing to offer him a lucrative contract to make the move to the capital.

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is another player the Hammers are eyeing for a big-money transfer as they look to right the wrongs of this past season.
