# Walsall want George Dobson to return for second loan spell

Since he arrived from Arsenal in the summer of 2015, George Dobson hasn’t really been given a look in the first-team squad.

The 19-year-old defensive midfielder made the first-team bench twice last season but is yet to make his senior debut for the club and a decision was made to send him out on loan for the 2016/17 season.

Dobson joined League One outfit Walsall for the season where he has featured regularly for the Saddlers, making 26 appearances so far this season and scoring once.

Walsall manager Jon Whitney has claimed that Dobson has been influential for his side this season and that [he would like to see the teenager return](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/players/wallsall-want-influential-west-ham-12973200) for a second campaign next year.

“He can be an influential player for us. I would like to try to keep George in some way if I can and I will speak to West Ham in the next week to try to make that happen.

“Our loan players are being spoken to about other clubs. Everybody is trying to fill their jigsaw really quickly and I’m doing the same with certain players and that’s the way of football.

“George is someone I’m going to try to get and with another pre-season under his belt, he can be that influential player for us.”

With just one year left on his contract at the London Stadium, Dobson has revealed that he would like another loan move next season.

“I’ll go back to West Ham at the end of the season and I’ve got one more year left on my contract and we’ll see what happens from there.

“I want to be able to go back out on loan next season and Walsall is definitely a club I am interested in coming back to. I don’t know what West Ham want to do but I am open to everything.”
