# West Ham agree £1m fee for Ashley Fletcher

West Ham United have agreed a £1million fee for striker Ashley Fletcher, who they signed to a four-year deal in July 2016.

The 21-year-old turned down the opportunity to extend his contract with Manchester United last year and as such, he was allowed to sign for any club he wanted and he chose to join West Ham.

Due to Fletcher’s age, West Ham owed Manchester United compensation when they signed him and for a long time, the two parties were unable to come to an agreement about how much that compensation should have been.

However, as reported by John Cross of [The Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/west-ham-agree-1million-deal-10178549), with the case set to go to a tribunal, the two clubs have agreed that a fee on £1million is an acceptable amount.

Despite West Ham’s injury crisis, Fletcher has started just two Premier League games for this season, and he also featured in the League Cup game at Old Trafford, a game in which he scored against his former club.

He’ll be hoping to progress and kick on for the remainder of this season and into the next campaign.
