# Manchester United to rival West Ham for Malcuit

Manchester United are set to rival West Ham in their pursuit for Saint-Etienne defender Kevin Malcuit.

According to a report from the [Manchester Evening News](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/manchester-united-transfer-news-malcuit-12659682), United boss Jose Mourinho has been casting a keen eye over the 25-year-old’s progress and was extremely impressed by him when his side defeated the Ligue 1 outfit over two legs in the Europa League recently.

It was [reported](https://readwestham.com/2017/02/28/west-ham-expected-complete-summer-deal-malcuit/) just yesterday that The Hammers were closing in on signing Malcuit ahead of a summer move as they look to finally resolve their issues in the right-back position. However, it now looks as though they may face stiff competition.

There were reports that suggested West Ham’s interest in the January transfer window, with bids lodged at the French side. However, they were keen to keep hold of one of their key players until the end of the season, with interest in the versatile defender only increasing.
