6 right-backs West Ham should look to sign in the summer

Come the end of the season, West Ham’s annual search for a decent striker and decent right-back will begin again; something likely to cause immense frustration amongst fans.

In the summer of 2014, it looked like we’d found the perfect long-term right-back in Carl Jenkinson. Starting the 2014/15 season off looking like a world beater. Oh, how we were wrong, how we were very wrong. The change Jenkinson went through in 2015 was incredible as he returned from the summer break a changed man, a man who could no longer defend or attack.

And so in 2016, fans thought we’d go out and sign a talented full-back as Sam Byram was not ready, according to Slaven Bilic. Wrong again. Bilic decided upon one of the most bizarre tactical decisions I’ve witnessed, naming Michail Antonio as the starting right back. He’s now one of our starting strikers, so you can see how well that went!

So in the summer of 2017, we’ll start our search again. We’ve picked out six right-backs that we think West Ham should sign. Let us know what you think!

matchday.
