# Dimitar Berbatov in talks with West Ham?

West Ham won’t be signing a big money striker this month, but could they be bringing one in on a free transfer?

According to Bulgarian source [Gong](https://gong.bg/football-sviat/legioneri/multimedia/video/berbatov-zamina-za-london-chaka-iznenadvasht-transfer-416704?&&&&), free agent forward Dimitar Berbatov has travelled to London to hold talks with West Ham with a view to signing a contract until the end of the season.

Given Berbatov is a free agent, any agreement does not need to be reached by tonight’s 11 PM transfer deadline and he could be brought into the fold in the foreseeable future.

Simone Zaza has left the club and is yet to be replaced, while Diafra Sakho still faces up to six weeks on the sidelines through injury, leaving just Andy Carroll and Jonathan Calleri as the senior striking options for the time being.

The report claims that West Ham are ready to offer Berbatov a deal until the end of the season, with a view to extending that for 2017/18 if he impresses.

Berbatov, 36, has played in the Premier League for Manchester United, Tottenham and Fulham, scoring 94 goals in 224 appearances between spells with all three clubs.

Aston Villa are also interested in signing Berbatov but fears over his wage demands are real.
