# Watford set to beat West Ham to Niang loan deal

West Ham’s search for a new striker appears to have hit a roadblock in Milan.

> Twitter: Sky in Italy: Watford agree deal with AC Milan for M’Baye Niang. He has to decide if he wants to go to Watford. Loan + £13m option to buy (@SkyKaveh)

While the Hammers were interested in signing AC Milan’s M’Baye Niang this month, the young French forward appears set to join fellow Premier League outfit Watford according to Sky’s Kaveh Solhekol who quotes his Italian counterparts.

Milan were looking for a permanent sale but they have agreed a loan deal with the Hornets until the end of the season with an option to make the transfer permanent for £13m.

It was [reported last night](https://readwestham.com/2017/01/24/west-ham-liverpool-set-battle-sign-forward/) that representatives from both West Ham and Liverpool were meeting with Niang to discuss a move to the Premier League but Watford have swooped in and agreed a deal with the Serie A club.

West Ham will now need to go back to the drawing board to find a new striker as a deal for Brentford’s Scott Hogan continues to stall.
