West Ham’s only first-team signing this month remains bringing in Southampton captain Jose Fonte in an £8m deal – a signing which makes great sense considering Angelo Ogbonna will now miss the rest of the season after undergoing knee surgery.
The Hammers came into the January window with one primary aim: to sign a new striker. Having already let one flop loanee in Simone Zaza leave the club this month and another in Jonathan Calleri set to follow, Slaven Bilic needs to bring in reinforcements.
Not every reported target would be the best move for the Hammers, at least in our opinion, and some players need to leave in order to make room for new arrivals.
Here are a number of transfer deals West Ham must make, or in some case must not make, this month.
