# Jonathan Calleri edges closer to West Ham exit

Jonathan Calleri has been heavily linked with a West Ham exit this month and it finally looks like it’s coming to fruition.

According to Spainish source [Canarias7](https://www.canarias7.es/articulo.cfm?id=449974), Calleri is expected to arrive Las Palmas ‘in the next few hours’ to have a medical and complete a switch from West Ham.

The Argentine striker joined the Hammers on a season-long loan from Uruguayan outfit Deportivo Maldonado back in the summer. The deal included a £4m loan fee and no option to make the transfer permanent.

For the most part, Calleri has been a bitter disappointment when given the opportunity to impress but a goal at the 10th time of asking last time out against Middlesbrough could be a sign that he’s starting to acclimatise to the Premier League.

It’s believed that Calleri wasn’t terribly interested in joining West Ham in the first place and is eager to leave the club to play some regular football elsewhere in Europe, but his efforts last weekend could prompt Slaven Bilic into giving him more chances.

That being said, if the Hammers manage to bring in another forward before the end of the transfer window, namely Scott Hogan, then Calleri could once again be touted for an exit.

Canarias7 claim that Las Palmas will take the 23-year-old on an 18-month loan which will include an option to make it permanent in the summer of 2018.
