# Nice join the race to sign Payet on loan

Ligue 1 league leaders, OGC Nice are the latest club to be linked with a move for Dimitri Payet.

According to the [Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/new-twist-west-hams-dimitri-9667176), Nice are willing to loan the player until the end of the season.

The French midfielder is looking for a return to France with a move to his former side Marseille being muted.

It is being reported that Marseille are now unwilling to meet the club’s price tag, meaning they may be forced to let him leave on loan if they cover the cost of his £125,000-a-week wages.

Nice have impressed in Ligue 1 and following a takeover in the summer, they have the money to spend.

Should they qualify for the Champions League next season, the report suggests the player could remain at Nice next season on loan, but only if they continue to play his wages and the Hammers receive a bonus for their European qualification.
