# Marseille offer player exchange as part of Dimitri Payet deal

Dimitri Payet is wanted by Marseille and it looks like they’d do whatever it takes to bring him back to the Stade Veldrome.

[France Football](https://www.francefootball.fr/news/Mercato-rudi-garcia-marseille-fait-le-forcing-pour-dimitri-payet-west-ham/765208) reported in the last 24 hours that Marseille have been in talks with Payet’s entourage about a possible return to the Ligue 1 club in January – led and organised by manager Rudi Garcia.

In addition, [L’Equipe](https://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Actualites/L-om-veut-faire-revenir-dimitri-payet/765026) stated that the Ligue 1 club were prepared to spend between €30-40m in order to re-sign the 29-year-old attacking midfielder.

To help sweeten the deal, [France Football](https://www.francefootball.fr/news/Mercato-pour-dimitri-payet-l-om-est-pret-a-inclure-romain-alessandrini-ou-bouna-sarr/765441) believe that Marseille will offer a choice of players along with the large cash sum in the deal to sign Payet, with West Ham having the choice of wingers Romain Alessandrini or Bouna Sarr.

Alessandrini, 27, has only made six appearances for the Ligue 1 side this season in a campaign heavily hampered by a foot injury in the Autumn, while Sarr, 24, has played in 17 games but has only started on seven occasions.

While Slaven Bilic is adamant that West Ham will keep Payet this January, the chance to bring in a direct replacement with consummate ease will provide food for though.
