# West Ham line up Benitez as Bilic given two games to save his job

West Ham will make an approach to Newcastle United for manager Rafa Benitez if they sack Slaven Bilic, according to a report from [Scott Wilson of The Northern Echo](https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/14920948.West_Ham_set_to_target_Rafael_Benitez___as_Newcastle_United_prepare_their_response/?commentSort=score).

According to Wilson, West Ham will sack Bilic if they he fails to win either of West Ham’s next two league games, which are against Manchester United and Arsenal respectively, which is far from certain.

If they do decide to move on from the Croatian, they will apparently look to bring in Benitez, who has managed to take Newcastle to the top of the Championship.

The Spaniard came very close to taking over at West Ham back in 2015 but that fell through as he was offered a job at Real Madrid at the last-minute and he chose to return to his homeland.

Newcastle are apparently comfortable that Benitez will reject any chance to join the Hammers as they are confident that he wants to stay in the North East and get his side back into the Premier League.
