# West Ham tracking Dundee midfielder James Cowan

West Ham are one of a host of clubs reportedly tracking highly-rated Dundee midfielder James Cowan this season ahead of a potential January move.

According to the [Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/west-ham-keeping-tabs-dundee-9297369), there’s interest up and down the English football pyramid in Cowan, with Derby County and Oxford United also keen on making a move.

The teenage midfielder is held in high regard at Dundee but it’s believed the Scottish Premier League club are willing and ready to cash in on the talented 18-year-old when the January transfer window opens up.

Slaven Bilic is well aware that he needs to make several signings in January to reinforce his squad and it’s believed the owners will give him the financial backing the team needs.

As past of a potential reshuffle, the likes of Simone Zaza, Gokhan Tore and Jonathan Calleri could all see their season-long loan moves cut short and sent back to their parent clubs.

Alvaro Arbeloa is also on the chopping block after failing to impress since joining the club on a free transfer from Real Madrid in August.
