# Simone Zaza had Napoli move blocked by Juventus

New West Ham striker Simone Zaza’s agent has revealed there was an agreement to join Napoli before Juventus blocked the move, according to the [London Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/west-hams-simone-zaza-agreed-napoli-move-before-juventus-blocked-transfer-a3338816.html).

The Italian international has signed for West Ham on a season-long loan for a fee of £5m, a move which becomes permanent for £20m if the striker makes a certain number of appearances this season.

He’s expected to make his debut this weekend against Watford but it could’ve been so different for Zaza. His father and agent, Antonio, has revealed that they thought he was joining Napoli in the summer.

“There was strong contact with Napoli then we didn’t hear from them and no one explained why,” said Antonio in an interview in Italy.

“Thank God we were spoiled for choice, and there was the important offer from West Ham, a great project. We reached an agreement on everything (with Napoli) and we should have heard from them in a day, two days max but we never heard from them. They disappeared.

“I have no problem in saying that the offer was also very good — €3.5m (£2.9m) plus bonuses.”

It was believed that Juventus were not keen on letting Zaza join a direct rival in Italy and wanted him to go abroad.

A move to Wolfsburg was touted but that fell through earlier in the summer.
