# Wigan want Reece Burke on loan

Wigan are eyeing a loan move for highly-rated West Ham defender Reece Burke, [HITC understands](https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2016/08/27/wigan-target-west-ham-defender-burke/?).

[The West Ham Way](https://t.co/HFnK3LeCyM) have also confirmed talk that Wigan are keen on signing Burke on loan this summer.

Burke started for West Ham on Thursday in the 1-0 home defeat to Astra Giurgiu in the Europa League play-off and was impressive playing in an unnatural position of left-back, showcasing his strong versatility and what he offers the squad.

Bilic confirmed after the game that he is looking to send one of Reece Burke or Reece Oxford out on loan this season, and it appears Burke is the likely candidate.

Having just signed a new four-year contract, Burke has said himself he’s open to a loan move this season after his impressive spell with Bradford last season where he was named their Player of the Season.

Rotherham have also registered an interest in signing Burke on loan this week, but Wigan are leading the race.

Able to play across the back four, the England U20 international could do with another years experience in the Football League before making a proper run at a regular place in the West Ham first team.
