# West Ham ready to send Pedro Obiang out on loan

West Ham are ready to send midfielder Pedro Obiang out on loan following their Europa League exit to Astra Giurgiu on Thursday.

Slaven Bilic wants to have a bulky squad for a potential European campaign so he can keep his players fresh, but after their shock exit those wishes don’t need to be kept.

The Spaniard signed for the Hammers last summer from Serie A side Sampdoria for a fee in the region of £5.1m and made 30 appearances for the club last season, only 16 of which were starts.

Having started his career with [Atletico Madrid](https://readlaliga.com/), the Spanish midfielder to Sampdoria in 2008 and spent his entire professional career in Italian football before making the move to the [Premier League](https://readpl.com/) last summer.

Obiang has been heavily linked with a return to Serie A, and [Corriere dello Sport](https://www.corrieredellosport.it/news/calcio/calcio-mercato/2016/08/27-14796131/calciomercato_roma_per_la_mediana_pista_obiang/) believe that the Hammers have offered Obiang to AS Roma as well as Fiorentina, Cagliari and Palermo, while AC Milan and Torino have both been linked as well.

His agent is working hard to secure a loan return to Italy and any deal would include an option to buy.

With the £5.5m arrival of Edimilson Fernandes earlier this week from FC Sion, perhaps Pedro Obiang’s days in East London are numbered.
