# West Ham pushing to complete Martin Odegaard deal

West Ham are pushing to complete the permanent transfer of Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid this week, according to Spanish source [AS](https://futbol.as.com/futbol/2016/08/09/primera/1470723917_973539.html).

Since signing for Madrid from boyhood club Stromgodset in January 2015 for an initial fee of £2.4m, Odegaard has made just one senior appearance for Los Blancos in 18 months, spending the majority of his time with their Castilla side.

Real Madrid have a transfer ban looming and with that in mind, West Ham are eager for negotiations to pick up and complete the transfer by the end of this week.

[Fichajes](https://www.fichajes.net/noticias/west-ham-odegaard-20160808.html) believe that West Ham have stepped up their interest in the Norwegian midfielder in recent times and want to sign Odegaard who has been told he has no first-team future at Real Madrid.

Slaven Bilic is eager to sign cover for Manuel Lanzini who is out injured for the next month and will make an official bid for the 17-year-old in the next few hours.

Bayer Leverkusen and Hamburg are both interested in signing Odegaard on a season-long loan, but the player would rather a move to the Premier League and his holding out for an offer from Liverpool but would be willing to join West Ham.
