# Josh Pask set for Gillingham loan move

Young West Ham defender Josh Pask is set to complete a season-long loan move to Gillingham, according to club source [Gillsconnect](https://gillsconnect.com/s/Gills_News_Desk/Entries/2016/8/7_TALENTED_WEST_HAM_DEFENDER_SET_FOR_SEASON_LOAN.html?).

Club insider [ExWHUEmployee](https://www.thewesthamway.co.uk/2016/08/06/exwhuemployee-transfer-update-exclusive-leaving-loan/) also reported the news that the talented defender will be shipped out on loan.

The 17-year-old has recently signed his first professional contract with the club until 2019 and spoke about his aspirations for the coming season, looking to either catch a break in the first-team or move out on loan to a League One club.

“*Hopefully I’ll push on and become more involved in the first team, or maybe look to get a loan at League One level, that would be great, one of those two options.*”

Pask turned down the advances of Arsenal to sign a scholar deal with West Ham in 2014 and spent time out on loan with Dagenham and Redbridge last season, making five appearances.

Recently captaining the U21 side, Pask is one of a number of talented young defenders at the club right now, the most notable being Reece Oxford and Reece Burke – both of whom featured against Juventus.
