# Jack Sullivan confirms Dimitri Payet’s situation

Jack Sullivan has cleared up the situation surrounding Dimitri Payet and why he has yet to return to first-team action.

Payet was with the France squad at Euro 2016 who lost to Portugal in the final of this summer’s competition 1-0 thanks to an extra time winner from Lille striker Eder.

The final took place nearly a month ago on July 10th and Payet is yet to return to West Ham training and didn’t feature in yesterday’s 3-0 win over NK Domzale.

Sullivan has confirmed on Twitter that Payet has only now returned to training after being given an extra few days rest by Slaven Bilic.

Payet was allowed three weeks holiday after the Euros and was due back to first-team training with fellow Euro 2016 stars James Collins and Angelo Ogbonna, but Slaven Bilic gave the Frenchman a few extra days off before returning to light training today.

The Hammer of the Year is doubtful to feature in West Ham’s Premier League opener against Chelsea on August 15th as he returns to match shape.
