# West Ham in talks regarding a move for Davide Santon

According to a recent report from Italian news outlet [Gianluca di Marzio](https://gianlucadimarzio.com/en/eng/west-ham-attempting-to-sign-davide-santon-from-inter-ongoing-talks-between-the-sides/), West Ham are making a move for Inter Milan left-back Davide Santon.

The links regarding The Hammers and a new left-sided defender have been coming thick and fast since it was revealed that Aaron Cresswell would miss the first four months of the season and it now appears that Santon is the next name on the list.

The report states that West Ham have enquired to Inter regarding an initial season-long loan move to take the Italian international to The Olympic Stadium on a temporary basis.

The 25-year-old has reportedly been the subject of interest from The Hammers’ fellow Premier League side Sunderland, whilst Napoli have also had a bid for Santon declined by their Serie A rivals Inter.

The report from di Marzio states that Santon’s loan would come with a fee for West Ham, with €550k being the named price to take the versatile defender on loan for the season.

However, if Slaven Bilic does want to pursue his occupations with Santon at West Ham at the end of the season, the deal would include an option to buy clause, at just €5.9 million.

Santon has Premier League experience from his time at Newcastle and can play at both left-back and right-back.
