# Swansea close in on Llorente as Ayew is set to join West Ham

Swansea are closing in on the signing of Fernando Llorente from Sevilla as Andre Ayew’s move to West Ham nears completion, according to the [Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/swansea-confident-sealing-deal-spain-8548470).

The Spain international striker does not feature in Jorge Sampaoli’s plans at Sevilla despite the club selling Kevin Gameiro to Atletico Madrid last week, and is likely to leave the club this summer.

Swansea believe they have offered a great proposal to Llorente who is also the subject of offers from Germany and Italy.

The former Juventus striker is believed to be the replacement for Andre Ayew who is expected to complete his move to West Ham in the not-too distant future.

The Hammers made a £20m bid for Ayew last week which is believed to be the set asking price for the Ghanaian, but Swansea will not allow him to leave until a replacement, in this case Llorente, is through the doors at the Liberty Stadium.

The 26-year-old forward turned down West Ham last summer to join [Swansea](https://readswansea.com/) on a free transfer following his release from Marseille and went on to score 12 goals in his debut season in English football.

Operating primarily as a left-winger, Ayew filled in as a centre-forward and proved his was capable of scoring goals at this level, thus somewhat justifying his fee.

More of a midfielder than a striker, it’s unlikely that West Ham deem Ayew as the marquee 20-goal striker signing they’ve been looking for this summer and will again dive into the transfer market to find that striker.
