# West Ham target Jordan Ayew staying at Aston Villa

Aston Villa forward and West Ham target, Jordan Ayew will remain at his current club, according to Roberto Di Matteo.

Speaking to [BBC West Midlands](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36927899), the former Chelsea boss confirmed that he doesn’t wish to sell the forward, who has been linked with moves away from Villa Park.

Following the club’s relegation from the Premier League, Ayew has been linked with moves back to France and West Ham, who find themselves on a search for a new striker.

The new Villa boss admitted that Ayew’s situation is slightly different to Idrissa Gueye’s who has been linked with Everton and West Ham after the Toffees activated a £7million relegation release clause in his contract.

> We’re not looking to sell. It is not a question, Gana was totally different. He had a clause in his contract but nobody else has.

Di Matteo has backed the forward to thrive in the Championship and help guide the club back to the Premier League at the first time of asking. He said this about the Ghanian forward:

> Jordan Ayew is going to stay here. He is going to be part of our plans. His qualities will shine.

Ayew looks like he has missed the chance to team-up with his brother Andre, who is closing in on a switch to the Olympic Stadium.
