# West Ham set to sign Ludwig Augustinsson

According to an emerging report from [The Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/west-ham-closing-5million-signing-8528153), West Ham are set to make their move to temporarily replace the injured Aaron Cresswell with Sweden international Ludwig Augustinsson.

It was recently announced that Cresswell would be sidelined for at least four months due to a knee injury sustained in West Ham’s preparations for the coming Premier League season, which starts in two weeks.

Augustinsson was selected to Sweden’s [Euro 2016](https://readeuro2016.com/) squad following an impressive season with Danish side FC Copenhagen and has also been linked with a move to the[Premier League](https://readpl.com/) with [Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/), says the [Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-target-ludwig-augustinsson-transfer-5961065).

Now, Augustinsson has been touted as Cresswell’s replacement for the time being given that West Ham don’t have a recognised left-back that they perceive to be at a sufficient quality to fulfill the defender’s boots.

The report states that Augustinsson is the subject of a £5 million move from The Hammers, with the FC Copenhagen defender originally being lined up as a back-up to Cresswell.

Now, however, West Ham’s hand has been forced and they will look to bring in the Sweden left-back in the coming days to fix their problem position.
