# Jose Enrique demanding £70k-a-week to sign deal

Free agent left-back Jose Enrique is demanding £70,000-a-week to join West Ham or West Brom this summer.

West Ham were [linked with a move](https://readwestham.com/2016/07/27/west-ham-tracking-enrique/) for the former Newcastle defender earlier this week after the Hamers were dealt the news that Aaron Cresswell would be sidelined for up to four months with a knee ligament injury sustained in their 3-0 friendly win over Karlsruher during their pre-season tour of Austria.

Enrique was released by Liverpool this summer after his contract came to an end and isn’t short of suitors, with West Brom and Crystal Palace both keeping tabs on his situation.

West Brom have tried to sign Enrique multiple times in the last 12 months have failed to get a deal over the line and are believed to be keen on doing so in the open market.

However, the [Birmingham Mail](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/birmingham-mail-football-recap-dr-11678291) believe that the Spaniard’s wage demands would be a stumbling block in any deal, with Enrique earning £70,000-a-week at Liverpool and will look for a similar deal when penning his next contract.

West Ham are keen on bringing in a left-back especially on a short-term basis with no natural left-back’s in the first-team squad, and are readying a loan bid for Manchester United teenager Cameron Borthwick-Jackson while a £5m deal for FC Copenhagen defender Ludwig Augustinsson is believed to be nearing completion.
