# West Ham to contest Barcelona for Lucas Perez

According to the printed version of Catalan news publication [Sport](https://www.sport.es/es/), as reported by [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/west-ham-submit-formal-proposal-trying-snatch-barca-target-club-sleep/), West Ham have submitted an offer for Deportivo forward Lucas Perez – but face competition from Barcelona.

The 27-year-old has been in impressive form for the Spanish side in recent times and has consequently attracted interest from a whole host of European clubs.

Perez has reportedly been circled by Barcelona, Villarreal and Valencia in his homeland; three clubs that would certainly propose an attractive destination for the forward.

However, there is also interest from West Ham and Serie A giants Napoli as Perez’s signature continues to be highly sought after.

The report suggests that West Ham are among the teams that have made a proposal to Deportivo regarding a move for Perez this summer; whether the Spanish club’s reported €14 million valuation is matched by The Hammers is another thing.

Although Deportivo are keen to keep hold of Perez on a long-term deal as they remain determined to keep hold of their star striker, the lure of European football elsewhere at a bigger club could prove to be too much to refuse.

Perez is said to be tired of waiting for Catalan giants Barcelona to make a move and is to consider fresh offers.
