Ten left-backs West Ham must consider to replace Aaron Cresswell

The news West Ham fans have all been dreading has just been confirmed: Aaron Cresswell is out for a sustained period of time – four months to be precise. This means he will miss almost the entire first half of the season which is a massive blow for the Hammers.

He is one of West Ham’s most important players, having missed just one Premier League game in the past two seasons. He’s also one of the most reliable on the pitch, being solid defensively as well as a threat going forward, being one of the best crossers of the ball from a fullback position in the league.

Perhaps because of this, the West Ham management team seem to have turned a blind eye to the left back’s position since he signed two years ago, knowing that they did not need any more quality there and that Cresswell was reliable enough to not need an immediate backup. However, that situation has now changed and the West Ham board need to urgently look at a short term replacement so we at ReadWestHam thought we’d start by providing a shortlist.
