# West Brom in advanced talks over £15m Diafra Sakho deal

West Brom are in advanced talks with West Ham over a £15m move for wantaway striker Diafra Sakho, according to the [Birmingham Mail](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/west-brom-verge-breakthrough-chase-11650078).

The Baggies are hopeful over a deal to sign the Senegal international after he expressed his desire to leave West Ham by handing in a transfer request and refusing to travel on the club’s pre-season tour of Austria.

Despite being eager to move, co-owner David Sullivan has informed fans that, should he still be at the club by the start of the Premier League season, Sakho has given his assurances that he will make himself available for selection.

The overriding feeling is that Sakho will leave the club before then and a move for the reported fee makes sense for all parties involved.

West Brom are willing to stretch to West Ham’s £15m asking price after seeing a £12m offer from Sunderland turned down, which would break the club-record set last summer when they splashed out £12m to sign Salomon Rondon from Zenit St. Petersburg.

There was hope that a deal could be agreed yesterday as Carlos Bacca’s arrival would pave the way for Sakho to leave sooner rather than later. However, the Colombian has turned down the Hammers who remain very much in the mindset that they must sign a replacement for Sakho before confirming his exit.
