# West Ham offer €25m for Mauro Icardi

West Ham have offered €25m to Inter Milan to sign striker and club captain Mauro Icardi this summer, according to [Sundul](https://www.sundul.com/berita-bola/liga-italia/2016/06/inter-enggan-lepas-icardi-ke-west-ham/).

Slaven Bilic has watched Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi slip through his fingers already this summer as the 22-year-old Marseille star is poised to complete a £33m move to Chelsea and hasn’t dithered in eyeing up an alternative.

The Hammers have made Mauro Icardi one of their top targets this summer to fit the bill of the 20-goal-a-season striker the co-owners have promised to deliver to the fans.

The 23-year-old striker was part of [Barcelona](https://readlaliga.com/)’s famed La Masia academy from 2008 to 2011 before joining Sampdoria on a six-month loan while they were in Serie B and was hugely impressive for their reserve side prompting the club to trigger his €400,000 buy-option in the loan contract.

During the 2012/13 season, Icardi broke into the Sampdoria first team following their return to Serie A, netting 10 goals in 31 games which was enough to attract the interest of Inter Milan who shelled out €11.7m for his services.

He has an impressive goal every other game record with Inter, netting 52 times in 105 appearances while also assisting 15 times. The Italian side are not afraid of entering negotiations however they will want at least €40m for their captain and star player. Unfortunately, for the Hammers, they’re not the only team interested as [Atletico Madrid](https://readlaliga.com/) are also keeping tabs on the 23-year-old but are yet to submit a formal offer.
