# Chelsea reach agreement with Marseille for Batshuayi

Chelsea have reached an agreement with Marseille for the transfer of Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi, according to [L’Equipe.](https://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Actualites/Michy-batshuayi-a-chelsea/700625)

It is thought that West Ham upped their bid to €39million yesterday, while Spurs also improved their initial offer, but it was too little too late. Chelsea have agreed to pay €40million for Batshuayi and a transfer should be concluded in the coming days.

Of the €40million, Marseille receive just €28million due to an agreement with Standard Liege made when Batshuayi first arrived. The Belgian outfit will pocket €12million.

French journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi says West Ham had reached an agreement with Marseille for Batshuayi and the deal was set to go ahead, until Chelsea swooped with an eleventh-hour bid.
