# West Ham to beat Arsenal, Everton to Tyrese Campbell

West Ham are in pole position to complete the signing of striker Tyrese Campbell from Manchester City beating Arsenal and Everton to his signature.

According to the [Daily Star](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/525465/Arsenal-Everton-West-Ham-Tyrese-Campbell-transfer-news-gossip), the 16-year-old striker is on the search for a new club after turning down a new scholarship deal to remain at the Manchester City academy.

It’s believed that Campbell was put off by the arrival of Pep Guardiola at Manchester City and felt the progression into the first-team wasn’t going to happen in the near future with Guardiola looking to bring in big-name signings.

City have invested significant sums of cash into their academy set-up as they look to produce first-team players but they’re yet to blood an academy graduate successfully into the first-team since Micah Richards over a decade ago.

Campbell will officially leave City at the end of June and isn’t short of suitors with Arsenal and Everton also believed to be keen on the England U17 international who is the son of former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell.

West Ham are leading the race to sign the young striker because he feels the paths are there to make a first-team breakthrough with the Hammers as opposed to Arsenal or Everton.

Reece Oxford and Reece Burke are just the latest academy graduates to be handed places in the first-team squad in the last 12 months with the likes of Josh Cullen, Lewis Page and Djair Parfitt-Williams all also knocking at the door.

Portuguese youth international Domingos Quina joined the Hammers earlier this summer from Chelsea for reasons similar to those of Campbell on his decision to leave Manchester City.
