West Ham look likely to break their transfer record this summer when signing their new ‘big name’ striker.
The Club have already had bids rejected for Alexandre Lacazette (ranging from €32m to €40m) and Michy Batshuayi (in the region of €35m). A deal for the former is extremely unlikely, but the Hammers have been given renewed hope of signing Batshuayi within the last 48 hours.
Marseille are keen to offload the Belgian striker this summer, with West Ham and Spurs leading the race. While the player would prefer a move to White Hart Lane, Daniel Levy is unprepared to match the asking price, unlike West Ham. As it stands, l’OM would rather sell to the Hammers, but the player will hold out for a Spurs move.
West Ham first broke the £10m-barrier in the summer of 2012 with the signing of Wolves and England winger Matt Jarvis, and have gone on to break the eight-figure mark on player transfers several more times since, signalling the intent of the club to move forward and break into the Top 6 of the Premier League.
In this piece, we’re going position-by-position for the to create the most expensive all-time West Ham team, using a traditional 4-4-2 formation.
