Ten players who nearly signed for West Ham

It wouldn’t be the summer transfer window without West Ham being linked with a move for yer Da’s best mate along with everyone else under the sun.

As is tradition West Ham will try with all their might to secure targets some would deem ‘bigger than the club’ or so you would believe Adam, 17 from Manchester on Twitter.

But you can’t fault the effort that David Gold, David Sullivan et al put in to bring in the best possibly players into the club – no more so than the transfer saga that was Dimitri Payet’s £10.5m move from Marseille last summer. That was on and off more than Ross and Rachel.

Admittedly though, we can’t sign everyone we’re linked with, so we’re taking a look at ten players West Ham (reportedly) came incredible close to signing.

We’re apologise profusely if all of these ‘what if’s’ make you sad. It makes us sad too when you see some of these names.
