# Borussia Dortmund to make offer for Hammers target Niang

West Ham face a battle from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund for the signature of AC Milan striker M’Baye Niang after it was revealed the German side have made their interest known.

According to Italian source [Calciomercato](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/borsino-fantacalciomercato-le-ultime-novita-sulle-quote-chi-sale-246271), Dortmund have been in contact with Niang’s people over a possible move from Italy to Germany, but no formal offer has been made yet.

West Ham and Premier League rivals Everton have both been linked with moves for the France U21 international who rejected a move to England with Arsenal or Tottenham in favour of joining AC Milan in 2012.

He spent a couple seasons on loan with Montpellier and Genoa but began to stake a claim for a place in Milan’s first team this past season, scoring eight times in 21 games in all competitions.

In an interview with Footmercato.com (via [Football Italia](https://www.football-italia.net/86003/agent-no-niang-offers-yet)), Niang’s agent Moussa N’Diaye has confirmed there is interest from Germany and England in his client but they are in no rush to sort out his future.

> Talk of formal offers for him is premature. There is interest, but no actual proposals yet. As happens in every transfer session, he is linked with many clubs. His potential emerged after the experience on loan at Genoa. His style of football is very interesting. There are several options, including in England and Germany, but no rush.

West Ham are in the market for a striker this summer, and with Diafra Sakho and Enner Valencia both edging closer to the exit door, a player of Niang’s calibre would be a decent replacement in next season’s squad.
